Integrated Options for Custom Wood Countertops

There are numerous ways to customize your solid wood top to fit your specific needs.  The following are just a few of the things you can do to make your island or countertop unique and functional.

Granite or Marble Inserts

These inserts provide a heat resistant area in your counter or island top.  They can also serve as a built-in surface for rolling pie crusts, kneading bread dough and other baking functions.

Stainless Steel Grids

These grids serve as a built-in hot plate on your counter or island top.  They extend about 1/4" above the countertop and are removable for cleaning.

Knife Storage

Knife slots, knife blocks, or removable knife holders may be integrated into your counter or island top.

Drain Boards

Integrated drain boards help to ensure that moisture does not collect on your counter or island top.  These routed drain boards may also be sloped for extra protection.

Sink Options

Wood countertops work well with all types of sinks (Drop-in, Undermount, or Farm Sinks).  We recommend using a waterproof finish, such as Waterlox®, when a sink is integrated into the countertop.  Mineral oil finishes will also work, as long as you are diligent in the maintenance of the top.
