Mesquite Butcher Block Countertops

Edge Grain Construction

General Description:  Mesquite is a remarkable wood known for its beauty, strength and tenacity.  The color and grain characteristics are enhanced with occasional defects, ingrown bark & mineral streaks.  The reddish-brown color revealed when a finish is applied gives and exceptionally distinctive appearance to wood cut parallel to the grain.  The End Grain cut has its own beautiful personality of rich brown patterns.

Janka Hardness: 2940

Color: Fresh cut mesquite will range in color from a blonde, to Light brown to dark reddish brown.

Color Change:  Mesquite wood will darken in color as UV light interacts with the exposed surface giving it a more uniform rich mahogany color over time.

Grain: High in character, with ingrown bark and mineral streaks.

Finishing: Finishes very well.

Characteristics: Mesquite is a domestic hardwood that is considerably more stable, more dense and harder than most other hardwoods.  Mesquite is also an environmentally friendly renewable resource.
