Mesquite is a remarkable wood known for its beauty, strength and tenacity. The color and grain characteristics are enhanced with occasional defects, ingrown bark and mineral streaks. The reddish-brown color revealed when a finish is applied gives an exceptionally distinctive appearance to wood cut parallel to the grain. The End Grain cut has its own beautiful personality of rich brown patterns.

Fresh cut mesquite will range in color from a blonde, to Light brown to dark reddish brown.

Color Change:

Mesquite wood will darken in color as UV light interacts with the exposed surface giving it a more uniform rich mahogany color over time.

Grain:

High in character, with ingrown bark and mineral streaks.

Characteristics:

Mesquite is a domestic hardwood that is considerably more stable, more dense and harder than most other hardwoods. Mesquite is also an environmentally friendly renewable resource.

Finishing:

Finishes very well.
